It is a brand new year and you want to lose weight. Do you tell yourself “I want to lose a lot of weight” or “I want to eat healthy from now on” or “I will exercise more”? Are you ambitious to want to start on a long term weight plan? Are you organized with a “I will do what it take” attitude? Then create a long term goal for yourself but you have to know what are the small goals to get there. Small goals are like pit stops you make on the cross country car ride. You need to plan your weight loss journey with the same care and excitement as you would a cross country car ride. Yes, excitement. Don’t like to plan? Then set small goals for yourself one at a time. Pat yourself on the pat and reward yourself each time you achieve that goal. Personally, I favour the second method.
To give you an example. A goal to lose 50lbs by say, Christmas of 2015 can easily be broken down into a monthly goal of 4 lbs or a weekly goal of just 1 lb. That is just 0.2 lb per day! This is entirely possible! Simply cutting the soda out of your diet for 1 week is enough to achieve that. It just takes 1 small change in your diet or lifestyle, a week at a time. After losing 1 lb in that first week, try another method, like eliminating salt for the second week.
Weight loss need not be hard, it is only hard when you associate diets and deprivation.
