In the Internet environment of today there is no reason not to have your own Internet website. There are several free website possibilities available. Blogger.com comes to mind, Google sites, and WordPress.com all provide a relatively easy way to set up your free blog site. There are also mini blog sites like Hub Pages and Squidoo. I use Hub Pages, Squidoo, and have used Google sites and they are easy to set up and provide a level of convenience. The problem I have with these free services is that you don’t own your website and you are limited as to what you can do. The only way to have complete freedom is to own your website. I advocate buying your own domain name, subscribing to a hosting provider, and using Word Press as a content management platform.
I use GoDaddy for all my domain names. GoDaddy is the biggest and in my opinion the best. Purchasing a domain from GoDaddy is easy, painless, and inexpensive. The only irritation with GoDaddy email login Go Daddy is that the path to the check out is filled with add on offers. GoDaddy is the king of irritating offers on the way to the check out.
There are dozens of hosting providers. Many are excellent but I use HostGator to host all my websites. Hostgator has provided excellent service for me over the past two years. Their service department has always been prompt, courteous, and patient. And did I mention that they are inexpensive too. One other important point is CPanel. Hostgator uses CPanel. I strongly suggest you make sure whatever hosting provider you subscribe to uses CPanel.
CPanel is an interface that I use to access my servers at HostGator. CPanel is an easy to use control panel that allows me to add domains to my server, install Word Press, Upload themes, upload anything I want, and I can also easily set up email for my domains. CPanel just makes uploading files very easy to accomplish. With CPanel you don’t really need an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. CPanel does it all.
One last suggestion is to use Word Press for your website. Word Press is an open source content management system that is free. It is maintained by dozens of expert programmers who continually update and improve the platform. The versatility of Word Press is phenomenal. There are thousands of free themes available. It would take days to look at all the free themes. I purchased a beautiful set of professional themes called Revolution designed by Brian Gardner that I use occasionally. My main theme is Thesis by Chris Pearson. The combination of Word Press and Thesis is so fantastic! I get excited talking about it. Using Thesis I can push button select my theme set up. It can be 3 column, 2 column, or a single column website. I can adjust text size and color. Using the Word Press and Thesis combination will allow you to set up virtually any website look you could imagine.Cheap Business Web Hosting
